Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Information for Fellowship Applicants
Dear Fellowship Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. We offer a three-year fellowship leading to certification in both pulmonary and critical care medicine. Three or four positions are available each year through the Medical Specialty Matching Program. Fellows spend two years on the clinical service and one year on the research service. The clinical service provides both formal course work and rotations on the division’s pulmonary disease inpatient unit, consultation service, and medical, surgical, cardiothoracic and cardiac intensive care units in the state-of-the-art NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and the Hospital for Special Surgery. The division also has educational conferences on weekly, bimonthly and quarterly schedules.
The fellows are trained to master all procedures of pulmonary and critical care medicine under the supervision of the clinical faculty. The research program focuses on genomics, gene expression, gene therapy, stem cell therapies, pulmonary inflammation and host defenses. Fellows enter a dynamic ongoing program to learn the techniques and skills required in research prior to choosing a project either at the laboratory bench and/or in clinical research involving human subjects. The clinical research rotation allows fellows to care for and study patients enrolled in research protocols at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. All research fellows are fully funded. Housing is available on campus.
The division participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
No paper applications will be accepted. The application deadline is February 15, 2011. Interviews are by invitation only. Invitations for interviews will be extended from March through May 2011. H1B visas are no longer supported by NYPH.
